Becoming Home is a lyrical monologue that unflinchingly unravels the difficulties of migration and the experience of inhabiting a world as a woman. Woven through landscapes of sorrow and loss, it transforms personal wounds into metaphors that become mantras of resilience.
The performance brings together seven poems (in English) inspired by my intimate experiences, tracing a journey through grief, crisis, and rebirth. Accompanied by seven songs from the Latin American folk tradition and performed alongside guest musicians, Becoming Home becomes a testimony of loss, enaction, homeostasis, emancipation, and reclaiming one’s place in the world.
